The Major Landform Regions in Canada
'The SUPERIOR north'

innuitian Mountains
The Innuitian Mountains are located far up north in Canada. This region was created during the Mesozoic geological era and consist Sedimentary, Metamorphic and Igneous rock types. This area is made up of only 2 Territories; Nunavut and the North West Territories.
The region is made up of many series of islands with gently rolling landscapes. There is no agriculture or farming due to the fact that the ground is permanently frozen with permafrost and is covered in a blanket of snow almost year round. This makes it hard for plants to grow, but the occasional and rare berries, lichen, shrubs and Arctic berries may grow.
This division is known for its accumulation of minerals and natural resources such as iron, zinc, coal and oil, but due to its location, it cannot be exploited because it is too expensive. There are not many land uses in this area because of the permafrost and the hard soil that makes poor foundation for buildings and agriculture.
The water channels that surround the Innuitian Mountains are Perry Channel and Baffin Bay; 2 large bodies of water. The temperature of the water can range from -1 to -5 degrees celsius. The climate of the water not only affects the water but the land too because of ocean currents. There are not really any environmental issues, but the environment may be problems to humans because of its unavailability to produce or build anything.

During the winter in the Innuitian Mountains, you can visit the great Ellesmere Island. It is here that you can visit the amazing ice shelves that Ellesmere Island has to offer.
If you don’t already know what it is, ice shelves are floating sheets of ice permanently attached to a landmass, which in this case, is Ellesmere Island. In fact, ice shelves are only found in Greenland, Antarctica and Canada! Since these floating ice sheets are so thick during the winter, you are actually able to walk across them!
To prepare for this visit, you would definitely need very warm clothing! On Ellesmere Island, temperatures can dip to as low as -40 degrees celsius! Also, you would also need safety gear (which you can purchase near the area) due to the regulations the island has.
